Solar Eclipse 2017

The solar eclipse came and is currently on it's way out. Here is Utah, it was 90% visible, so while it didn't completely reach dark-of-night status, it go close enough to think the sun was setting at any minute. I was not fortunate to get my hands on a pair of safe glasses, but I did get to see the progression of the eclipse through the shadows of my trees. It was subtle and quite beautiful. I hope there will be a few more of these outer space phenomenons in my life time.

All the Fruit, All the Time

In an perfect world, I would be on a low carb Paleo diet with a gluten-free side of everything. I've tried many restrictive diets and I can truly say I was not better off for it. In hindsight, I can see how these diet fads work and are reliable in a test vacuum. But, these diets that forbid certain foods because they are evil, have not been healing or helpful for my over all health and well-being. Was I lazy? Nope. Did I "cheat" and eat naughty things? Nuh uh. As I tell my amazing doctor, 'I would eat dirt everyday if you told me to', and I mean that!

I love science and all the new and upcoming data they can provide to us that make our lives better. But, I have come to the conclusion that diets and all ways of eating are probably very unique and individualized, like snowflakes. I am so guilty of being a food snob and telling people what they should and should not being eating because the latest diet craze said so. I wasn't personally getting the results those diets promised, but, it would come around...eventually. When I got tired of being stood-up by these promises, I started going into a feeding frenzy and ate what I wanted. Eventually, I calmed down from the disappointment of diets that wasted my time and money. I decided to go back to eating how my body was used to eating, the innate knowledge my body always had and that I obnoxiously ignored for so long.

Late Summer Evenings

Summer is winding down now and I'm trying to spend as much time as I can in my garden before it all fades away. Not gonna lie, I'm looking forward to the cooler weather. This summer was ridiculously hot and dry this year; it was the hottest summer on record, according to NASA.

My tomato plants are just starting to produce fruit. I'm just grateful they didn't die on me in the sweltering heat. Crossing my fingers that the produce a bumper crop before the freezing low temperatures start creeping upon us.

Better Late, Than Never

Oh, Halloween. How you snuck up on me during my flu month. I completely slacked with decorations this year. ZERO decorations inside the house and Halloween decorations went up on the 31st.

I almost did not make a Hello Kitty Pumpkin this year, because the flu makes all things seem pointless. But, I stuffed myself with meds, gathered what little energy I had, and made the pumpkin. Here she is, in all her glory. I felt a unicorn was fitting since the very recent release of the new emoji.

Hello and Happy Halloween

It's Halloween Day! Since it's on a Friday this year, I'm expecting truck loads of kiddies at my door (and have the candy to prove it). Last year did not turn out a very large group of Trick-or-Treaters,which was disappointing since I do love to see those amazing costumes they all wear.

The past couple of months have been very sad in our home. Our beloved man cat, Mr. Winkles, passed away in mid September due to failing kidneys. We did everything we could and he had and amazing vet doctor, but he was 14 years old and nothing could be done short of a kidney transplant (if that was a viable option, I would have been crazy enough to do it). I knew it would be sad to lose him, but there are no words to describe the unexpected sadness and grief that came over both my husband and me. It was heartbreaking and we miss him terribly.

This year I decided to make two "kitty" pumpkins. Maybe someday I will enjoy carving pumpkins. *sigh*

Hello Kitty is Maleficent this year. I almost didn't think this would turn out... Eek!

A Belated Happy Halloween

WOW, someone please call me lazy. It's less than a week away from Thanksgiving and I'm just now posting my Halloween pictures of my Hello Kitty Pumpkin. To be honest, I was disappointed with the way it turned out. It was much cutier in my head. It's suppose to be a Mummy just incase you thought it was a burn victim or someone badly injured. *Sigh* Still cute though, I mean, it's Hello Kitty, right?

Cozy Winter Days...

It's a beautiful snowy day in February. The east coast snowstorm Nemo was kind enough to share some of their left overs and send it our way. I am just grateful that it doesn't come with subzero temps.

I feel lazy with weather like this and just want to stay curled up with a blanket all day long with a warm drink in hand. I shop at a Super Target near my home and they have a Starbucks inside. There is always some sort of display of cups and other products starring you down when enter the doors.

Since the holidays, they have had this beautiful white ceramic travel mug on display and I finally bought it. I don't usually like to buy products that have obvious logos visible out for the world to see, but this one I was ok with because 1) It was the same color as the mug and 2) I could easily cover it with something cute, like a sock cozy I made out of a really cute pair of socks I found at the store. Surprisingly, it actually keeps the contents hot/warm for about 45min-hour; could be longer if they made a stopper for the opening on top.  Not sure how much longer they will be available on their website. Starbucks Quilted Travel Mug. I have also seen it sold on Amazon and Ebay.
