Snowmen Pillow

If I had to pick a favorite type of decor for the holidays it would be snowmen. They always look happy and can have many accessories. They are great for the whole winter season, not just Christmas. I decorate with them after Thanksgiving and keep out them through January. Just love them!

I inherited a snowmen sweater 3 years ago after my Nana passed away on Christmas day. She was the most amazing person ever. She was sassy, found the humor in everything and had the biggest heart. And she always was the most flamboyant dresser. Crazy big hats, over-the-top clip-on earrings, the hottest and brightest pink and red lipsticks.

There was also the tradition of matching Christmas sweaters for all the girls. Every. Christmas. And to be honest, they were hideous and stiff and just miserable to wear, but it just made her giddy with joy to give them to us. She also had many Christmas sweaters that made noise and lit up. Christmas was her favorite holiday.

Snowmen Pillow

So here it is, the lovely snowmen sweater that belonged to Nana. I love that I have it, but I felt like I needed to do something with it other than let it just sit in the guest bedroom closet. I won't wear it because it's just not my style, but I do think it is sooooo cute! I decided it would make a great pillow that I could display every year for all to see.

Holiday Paper Wreaths

I'm usually a Simpleton when it comes to decorating for the holidays. A lit tree, a few strands of lights out side and a little here and there around the house. I think it's the mindset I had from living in a small apartment for 10 years (minimal storage for not much of anything).

I was browsing Pinterest one day not long ago and saw this picture. So pretty, right?

Hello December!

December is my favorite month of the year. Twinkle lights are every where, people are driving home with Christmas trees on their cars and crazy people wearing their over-the-top Christmas sweaters. Oh... it's also the month that my wedding anniversary and birthday happen. My husband calls it "Annibirthmas" month. A fun month of nonstop celebration.

For our anniversary we went to a wonderful French restaurant Franck's. Seriously A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. everything. They have never had the same soup in all the times we have been there (Watermelon soup with popcorn, Split pea soup with garlic oil and violet to name a couple). And my husband always swoons over the food when we dine there. While at dinner for our anniversary, my husband made sure to mention that if the zombie apocalypse ever happens, he will be kidnapping Franck to cook for us because there is no point living if he can't eat his best meal ever... everyday.

Trader Joe's in SLC!!!!

Today was the grand opening of Trader Joe's in Salt Lake City. Though I didn't go to the opening, I will be making my way there in the the coming weeks. I can not believe it has taken this long to get one. I am officially done shopping on line for their stuff and paying crazy shipping/handling. Just wanted to share my excitement!!!

Where did November go?

Holy moly, I can not believe November has come and gone! It was a busy month and I'm soooo glad it's over to be honest. My poor husband has been sick with a sinus infection and then pneumonia and I'm very thankful that I didn't catch anything from him (or anyone else).

We didn't go anywhere for Thanksgiving and just spent a quaint night at home. Luckily a local restaurant in our area happen to be taking limited orders for a Thanksgiving feast. We were able to get a WHOLE precooked Butterball Turkey with massive amounts of all the sides and a whole pie. It was quite impressive! I did make homemade croissants so I wasn't completely lazy!

I have started making my Christmas cards and should be finished with those by the weekend. I also have a few other crafts I have been working on will post all of those fun things in the coming days.

Happy Halloween!

I can not believe this month is already over! It feels like just yesterday I was very eager for it to start warming up so that I could plant my tomatoes and beets. Yesterday I sadly had to say good-bye to my garden and dig it all up because the freeze we had last week killed just about everything.

Totally random, but... today I was doing some errands and was in my car at a stop light. There was a woman cyclist also waiting there wearing her spandex shorts and shirt and BAT WINGS! When she started riding again, those wings flapped like they were ready for flight, lol! I wish I had taken a picture, oh well.

I have to admit that having this blog is mostly so I can have a main place to post my Hello Kitty creations! A couple of years a ago I had shared the witch (below) and some crazytown person was taking credit for it! It really really bothered me. Then this year I noticed people where posting it on Pinterest (with no ill intent) and those uneasy feelings came flooding back. So I guess you could say this my way of taking the control back.

Not Ready for my Teeth to Chatter

It's been cold and rainy for a few days now and that has been just fine with me. This morning I woke-up and saw it was snowing! It's too early to be this cold and snowy! I was hoping to hold on to my tomato plants a little longer, but I'm sure this drastic change in the weather has killed them, lol! O'well, C'est la vie...

Here are a few pics I got early this morning.

Hello October

It officially feels like fall and I looovvveee it! It was unseasonably cold this weekend, but it's now warming up to the 70's again. I'm getting ready this week to make a decorated pumpkin pumpkin, but in the mean time I had to get a new fall nail polish. In my Allure magazine there have been ads for the OPI German Collection. I went to Trade Secret to check these colors out and came home with OPI GERMAN-ICURE. It is so pretty and I love the colors that are reflected when the sun hits them!

To be a kid again...

If you are lucky enough to have had a good childhood, you most likely can name everything you loved as a child, and every toy like you still owned them. I loved Barbie's and Cabbage Patch Dolls. One of my favorite Christmas gifts of all time was a Barbie mansion that had four floors and and a moving elevator and a pink car to take my Barbies where ever they wanted to go.

And then there are favorite movies and cartoons. I really enjoyed fantasy style movies (Labyrinth, Never Ending Story, E.T., etc.). My most favorite cartoon as a child was The Last Unicorn. I remember watching it so much my mom had to get a new VHS because I wore it out! So I'm at the store the other day and I'm at the checkout. The store always has so much stuff sitting there staring you in the face so that you will buy it because you've been standing in line too long. There it was. This movie I loved as a child. I picked it up, held it, looked it over and told myself I didn't need it. So I stepped back into line and looked over at it again and realized it was only $5. Needless to say it came home with me and I can't wait to watch it over and over!

Big Cottonwood Canyon

Yesterday afternoon Jon(husband) and I went on a lovely drive in Big Cottonwood Canyon. It's probably a couple weeks early, but I wanted to see all of the beautiful trees change colors since the window for this is so short. Hopefully I can twist his arm to go in a couple weeks and take a better camera as well.

First day of Fall!!!

I love love love Fall! I'm lucky enough to live near mountains and canyons that beautifully display bright and colorful changing leaves. It doesn't last very long, so I need to talk the hubby into taking me for a drive ASAP!

Still dealing with a head-cold that can't take the hint that I want it gone. I woke-up at 5am today because I couldn't breath and I was starving. I wanted chocolate Dunford Donuts but settled for 1/4 of a bag of Terra Sweets and Beets. I don't know why I love these so much, but it's like candy to me!

I've also started pulling out my favorite fall recipes and have an endless list of things I want to try from Pinterest. Soups are probably my favorite thing to make because they take little effort and go along way.

Sick Day(s)

What do you get when you have a husband that travels on air planes and sits in recycled air? A sick husband. I've been nursing him back to health the last few days and last night during my workout I was not feeling my best. I was really hoping it was just allergies, but this virus has hit me fast and hard and I'm not happy! :-S

Does it prolong your sick days if you still workout? I'm willing to compromise and bring the intensity waaaay down and stroll on the treadmill or something. I could use this opportunity to get current on Drop Dead Diva or Glee.

And I'm sad that eating a salad or any veggies doesn't sound good right now. All I want is grilled cheese sandwiches and soup (and chocolate mousse with whipped cream and ice cream). Here's to hoping this bug I have is short lived.

Procrastination...

I set up this blog about a year ago and went no where with it. :~/ Possibly stage fright, but mostly it's really not knowing how to start it. Why is it so scary, lol?! I have a gazillion interests and things I want to share, so I just need to organize my brain and get this party started! I'm currently getting acquainted with some ways to water mark my pictures. From other blogs I have followed, a few recommend  iPiccy.com. You don't have to download any programs, don't have to give your info and it's FREE!  I have found over the last couple of years people on Facebook and Pinterest either taking credit for my stuff or just freely post things and don't give credit. O'well I guess.
